Dear CPGISers,
Time flies. It is the election time.
The Election Committee consists of 5 of the current BOD members who will serve their 2nd-year in this term starting from November 2011. They are (in alphabetical oder) Yumin Ding, Qinghua Quo, Xiang Li, Desheng Liu, and Xiaobai Yao.
The Election Committee will organize both CPGIS President Election and BOD Election. The winner of the President Election will start serve as CPGIS President-elect from November 2011 and then CPGIS President 2012-13. The BOD Election will need to fill FOUR BOD seats to be open at the end of this CPGIS year. The winners will start serving their regular 2-year term on BOD starting November 2011.
To add some more information about the BOD seats and election. The CPGIS Bylaws & Amendments require
that the BOD consists of two categories of seats – the 3 Presidential Status seats (for President-Elect, President, and Past-President), and a number of regular two-year term seats;
that the size of BOD should represent 5% of the total registered CPGIS members, but it should have no more than 21 members and no less than 11 members;
that each year half of the BOD seats should be re-elected.
Remember that all of the current 9 regular BOD members were elected last year and started serving on BOD from November 2011. This year the BOD has been working extremely hard to get this half-BOD-seats-rotation started in observing the Bylaws and Amendments. Different options were thoroughly discussed and explored. Four open seats have been identified for this BOD election. The Election Committee will formally announce the election soon. Please pay attention to the announcement and be actively involved.
Best,
Yongmei
