Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Associate – Hydrologic Modelling Software Development (January - December, 2011 with possible renewal)
The Watershed Evaluation Group in the Department of Geography at University of Guelph is seeking a postdoctoral fellow or research associate to join the research team led by Drs. Wanhong Yang and Yongbo Liu. The team members, comprising postdoctoral fellows, graduate, and undergraduate research assistants, have versatile expertise in the field of hydrologic and water quality modeling, watershed analysis, evaluation of beneficial management practices (BMPs), application of geographical information science (GIS), and integration of GIS, hydrologic and economic models. The successful candidate on this position is expected to conduct software design and development for a full distributed, modular hydrologic modelling system. S/he should have strong skills in computer programming and GIS software development. A research background on water resources management and knowledge on watershed models such as the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) would be important assets. The position may be filled as either a postdoctoral fellow or a research associate. For the postdoctoral fellow, a Ph.D. degree is required at the time of appointment, whereas, the excellent candidates holding a master degree will be hired as a research associate. This is a full-time, grant-funded research position for one year with possible renewal upon fund availability and a satisfactory performance.
