Minutes of the Meeting of the Board of Directors for
The International Association of Chinese Professionals in Geographic Information Sciences (CPGIS)
The Board of Directors of The International Association of Chinese Professionals in Geographic Information Sciences (CPGIS) held its May 2011 board meeting through email communication during May 10-25, 2011. The current BOD members are:
(1) Lu, Yongmei, Chair
(2) Chen, Aijun
(3) Ding, Yuemin
(4) Guo, Diansheng
(5) Guo, Qinghua
(6) Li, Xiang
(7) Liu, Desheng
(8) Liu, Yu
(9) Luo, Wei
(10) Mu, Lan
(11) Shi, Xun
(12) Yao, Xiaobai
There were four major items for this month’s BOD meeting:
(1) To officially vote to for a BOD resolution to adopt CPGIS Bylaws and the two Amendments (created and passed by then BOD in November 2007 and October 2010 respectively).
The purpose of this action was to facilitate the request from the lawyer’s office with whom CPGIS has been working to apply for 501(C) 3 status.
(2) To review, discuss and vote on GeoInformatics' 2012 Proposal submitted by Dr. Hui Lin and his group from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The proposal was recommended to BOD by CPGIS Conference Site Selection Committee on May 16, 2011.
(3) To review and discuss the Guidelines for CPGIS Headquarters (draft) that was developed by Dr. Shuming Bao in October 2010).
(4) To review and discuss the Guidelines for CPGIS Financial Management (draft) that was developed by Drs. Xun Shi and Qiming Zhou in October 2010).
After review and discussion of the related documents, BOD voted on items (1) & (2):
With a unanimous vote, the BOD resolved to accept the motion that CPGIS officially adopt the Bylaws and the two Amendments.
With a very strong vote (11 yes and one “no vote”), the BOD resolved to fully support the GeoInformatics 2012 Conference and CPGIS 20th Anniversary Celebration proposal submitted by Hui Lin and his group.
The BOD reviewed the Guidelines for CPGIS Headquarters and the Guidelines for CPGIS Financial Management. The BOD felt that more discussion and investigation are necessary before conducting a BOD voting.
The next BOD meeting will be held on June 24 during GeoInformatics 2011 Conference in Shanghai.
