Liberal Arts Innovation and Technology Services (LATIS) is hiring a Research Professional to be the technical domain expert Geographic Information System (GIS) software and technologies in the liberal arts (LATIS GIS Research Professional 4 - 8352P4) We're in the College of Liberal Arts where we strive to address the nation's most complex challenges-come be a part of making a difference in the world.
Objective/ Overview: The GIS Research Professional is the technical domain expert for GIS software and technologies in the liberal arts. Additional duties include managing an instructional GIS computer lab and coordinating research instrumentation in the college. The employee works collaboratively with the MGIS program, the department of Geography, Environment and Society, and many other academic departments in the College of Liberal Arts. The employee may have opportunities for co-authorship of academic research in the fields supported by the position.
This position is in LATIS (Liberal Arts Technologies and Innovation Services) which exists to elevate liberal arts teaching, learning, and research. Most of this job must be performed on the Minneapolis campus of the University of Minnesota. The employee will have some flexibility to work remotely some of the time.
