The Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability (DGES) at the University of Oklahoma (http://geography.ou.edu) invites applications for (1) a tenure-track assistant or associate professor in Remote Sensing; and (2) a ranked renewable term assistant professor in Geospatial Technologies. The Mission of the College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences is to provide a world-class academic experience that promotes convergent, innovative education and research at the intersections of weather, climate, and sustainability. To fulfill our mission, we are dedicated to preparing students for successful careers in the private sector, academia, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations. Other units in the College include the School of Meteorology and the School of Aviation.
------ Position 1 in Remote Sensing:
We seek an innovative scholar at the rank of assistant or associate professor who uses remote sensing technologies to study human-environment systems and complements departmental strengths. Individuals with expertise in synthetic aperture radar, UAV and airborne sensors, hyperspectral, very-high resolution imagery, air quality, or emissions monitoring are particularly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be able to integrate multiple data sources and collaborate with colleagues to address transdisciplinary challenges at the intersection of environment, society, and global change.
Qualifications The ideal candidates will have the potential to contribute to sustainability and resilience collaborations in our intellectually diverse department. Applicants must possess a PhD in Geography or a related discipline at the time of appointment. The successful applicants will be expected to develop a vigorous, independent research program, to teach in the Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability (the standard load is 2-2), and to contribute to mentorship and advisement for students in our growing graduate program. The Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability is currently composed of 20 tenure-line faculty with academically robust research agendas.

Ranked Renewable Term Faculty Positions at University of Oklahoma: Ranked renewable term faculty at the University of Oklahoma are recurring appointments at the ranks of assistant, associate, and full professor. While not tenure track, these appointments are intended to exist in perpetuity and have the same rights and privileges as tenure track faculty with the exception of tenure.
Qualifications
The Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability (DGES) at the University of Oklahoma (http://geography.ou.edu) invites applications for a renewable-term assistant professor who will direct our online Master's of Science program in geospatial technologies and teach in the area of geospatial research and practice (e.g., Digital Humanities; Historical GIS; Qualitative, Participatory or Critical GIS; and/or Physical Geography Applications, especially those utilizing UAVs or LiDAR data). This position is a ranked renewable term position (of a five-year duration) with the potential for promotion to ranked renewable associate professor at the end of the initial term. Applicants are required to possess a PhD in Geography or a related discipline at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be expected to teach three courses per semester in DGES, to serve as director of the DGES online Master's of Science in Geospatial Technologies, and to contribute to mentorship and advisement for students in our growing graduate program. The position is 60% teaching and 40% service; however, the exact distribution of this breakdown could include some research and is subject to final negotiation. Preferred qualifications include: being fluent in a wide range of geospatial applications and being capable of building and nurturing relationships with alumni, geospatial industries, and other business realms where geospatial applications are utilized.
