Call for Proposals to host the 32nd International Conference on Geoinformatics in 2025

Since its inception in 1992, the International Association of Chinese Professionals in Geographic Information Sciences (CPGIS) has sponsored the International Conference on Geoinformatics (CPGIS Annual Conference) annually, which has grown into a major international event among GIS professionals. The conference has attracted not only prominent GIS experts and scholars within China and beyond, but also those applying GIS technologies to China and Asian studies. In addition to presenting cutting-edge GIS research and technologies, this annual event provides a unique platform for effective communication and interactions among conference participants, eventually building new ties for international collaborations. In light of these developments, we are calling for proposals to host the 32nd International Conference on Geoinformatics in 2025

As a tradition, the conference is held between late spring and summer months, rotating between China and overseas countries and regions. The conference organizer is responsible for the financial arrangement, in general. Previous conferences have been funded by the organizer through the host institution, supplemented by conference registrations and various sponsorships. In addition to conference site rentals, the conference organizer is responsible for securing at least one keynote speaker and hosting a dinner reception. As an option, the conference organizer may offer a field trip and publish a conference proceeding.

The proposal should be 3 pages or less in length and should include the following items:

  • Proposed conference site and a brief description of the site
  • A theme with two or three intended sessions that reflect the theme
  • An organization structure of local organization committee
  • Proposed conference dates with at least two time slots
  • Accommodations with a price range and group discount
  • A budget and methods of balancing the budget (e.g., proposed registration fee, $2,000 contribution to CPGIS, cash awards to the student paper competition, discount to CPGIS members, sponsors, etc.)
  • Other potential benefits of holding the conference at the proposed site on the proposed dates (e.g., co-hosting with an additional conference or within a major conference, exhibits, social events)
  • A statement acknowledging that the conference is sponsored by the CPGIS (cosponsors are allowed)

If you are interested in hosting this conference, please submit a complete proposal to Dr. Yi Qiang (yi_qiang@hotmail.com) by March 31, 2024. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
